Trem 77 – "Textural Colour Spectrum Sandpainting"
The Colours of Sound and Texture

On September 9th, "Textural Colour Spectrum Sandpainting"—a beautiful musical interpretation of colour by Bristol-based artist Trem 77—will be released. You can feel the sound as you listen, and the colours themselves will evoke memories of these ten atmospheric tracks. Six of them are already available to hear today; the pre-release took place on August 17th.
"Textural Colour Spectrum Sandpainting" features recordings that blend the ephemeral nature of sand paintings with a textured audio colour spectrum. I highly recommend this record to anyone who enjoys immersing themselves in gentle, natural ambient sounds shaped by field recordings—music akin to that of Quiet Details or Past Inside the Present.
Trem 77 has focused the album on the grainy textures of the processed sounds. Quote:
"From sandpaper harmonic distortion to powdery modulated dust, these audio paintings are about the present moment of listening for the listener. Sound and texture as tangible auditory and physical sensation. Engage in that fleeting awareness of forms in perpetual transience."
That doesn’t just read wonderfully dreamy, playful, and imaginative. It sounds that way, too. I’ve already had the chance to listen to the album in full (all right, I’m actually listening to it for the fifth time right now!), and I highly recommend giving "Textural Colour Spectrum Sandpainting" a listen and marking September 1st on your calendar.
Tracks 1 through 4 feature processed string sounds by Swedish artist Henrik Meierkord.
1: Autumn Orange Spectrum (Strings Mix) 6:2
2: Blue Shines Through (Granular Matter Mix Strings Mix) 03:1
3: Purple Black Texture (Strings Mix) 03:26
4: Starlight Spectrum Sandpainting (Strings Mix) 06:54
Trem 77 created track 5 after mixing Henrik’s string recordings. It provided a fresh inspiration for a transitional piece.
5: Staers 07:34
Tracks 6 through 9 originate from the original "Phantom Circuit" radio session.
Autumn Orange Spectrum 6:15
6: Blue Shines Through (Granular Matter Mix) 3:17
7: Purple Black Texture 3:13
8: Starlight Spectrum Sandpainting 6:45
Track 10 leaves you with a final acoustic thought: all matter exists in a constant state of transit, and we are travellers forever commuting between stations.
10: Between Stations 04:31
