"Duskdawn"
CARTHAGE Unveils An Evocative and Distorted Parallel Reality with New Album

CARTAGE's wait is finally over. On March 7th, the Birmingham-based artist (aka Damian B) released his new album, "Duskdawn," which has been available on all major platforms ever since. This record marks the third release in the collaboration between Give/Take and Avalanche Recordings, the label owned by Justin K. Broadrick (Godflesh).
Active since the late 90s and known for his doom metal/industrial project KHOST alongside Andy Swan (Tactical Pagan), Damian B has now returned to his solo project, CARTHAGE.
A shoegaze meets noise sound masterpiece
"Duskdawn" is a sonic scaffolding woven through late-night recording sessions that stretched into the early morning. The album draws inspiration from road films, journal entries, misheard snippets of conversations, and half-forgotten places, all filtered through the haze of sleep deprivation and medication. An accident and a hospital stay—an event that ultimately influenced the creative journey—interrupted some of the recording process.
Subdued and intricately layered vocals intertwine with shoegaze-style guitars, metal fragements, beautiful piano lines, and abstract electronics. Downtempo beats and far-away-seeming rhythms shift abruptly. It feels a bit like changing channels—but under water or behind one of those really thick theatre curtains. The result is a dreamlike voyage that will resonate with fans of shoegaze, post-hardcore, synth, noise rock, and post-punk alike.
Daniela VK, who also contributes to the latest Tactical Pagan album, features prominently throughout the album with striking vocal contributions. Justin K. Broadrick himself mastered "Duskdawn".
Here's what CARTHAGE says about his new album:
"Many of the tracks were written late at night and into the early hours—a process which inspired the title—and over time became a depiction of an alternative reality that was unfolding."
"Duskdawn" has been available worldwide since March 7th, released on limited edition maxi-style CD and digital platforms.
CARTHAGE is the solo project of British musician Damian B, who is primarily known for his work in the realms of doom metal and industrial, particularly through the KHOST project he co-founded with Andy Swan of Tactical Pagan.
With CARTHAGE, which Damian B started in the late 90s, he takes a more experimental and atmospheric approach, blending elements of shoegaze, post-hardcore, synth, noise rock, and post-punk. He blends deep, dark tones with the project, often accompanied by subtle, layered vocals and the fusion of guitars, electronic elements, and powerful rhythms.
Damian B creates his music under highly personal and intense circumstances, which is reflected in the dreamy and surreal soundscapes that define CARTHAGE.
